Landscaping Designs

Although detailed and complex, the process can be enjoyable if taken a little at a time. You will not regret spending the time doing it properly. When you have finished, you will have a master plan - or a masterful design - to show for your efforts. In the case where the words "blueprint" seem concrete, you can find the idea of a "long-term plan" less fixed but no less useful in accomplishing the big and small goals that add up to a satisfactory landscape. Before putting a pencil on paper or planting flowers, take the time to determine what you want to accomplish in your landscape. Much of the planning and design will happen in your head when you think of ideas and think about what you like the most.

When trees and plants are used successively and repetitively, movement is created (Figure 19-11). The eye of someone moves continuously to the next tree and the user is propelled forward. The air plane defines the ceiling of an outside area, and we often feel more than just seeing. This plane serves as protection against the elements. Psychologically, it provides a sense of shelter and protection. The feeling of being "under" creates a strong sense of confinement. The aerial plane can provide an exceptional sensory experience from the character and color it creates when the patterns of sun and shadow land on the leaves.

Sometimes you can create a larger lawn with your little space. The secret is to use a faux grass carpet. You can create a tropical hideaway by maximizing space on your small garden. The Japanese fiber banana (Musa basjoo) is a tropical tropical plant. You can turn a small space in a garden by planting an elegant pergola. It can provide shade for your windows and at the same time, it can also block the view of neighbors. It is a contemporary backyard that includes a variety of elements. It is highlighted by the magnificent fire of metal and glass. The stone patio blends well with the furniture. The colorful accents in the seating area provide warmth to the backyard.

The effective use of color can enlarge the space. The distant objects appear with a fine gray texture to the eye. The use of gray and fine-textured plants at the edge of the landscape can increase the apparent distance between the viewer and the plant. Tapering aisles or plantations towards a vanishing point can also create an illusion of distance. The use of strong colors and coarse textures in front of a border helps to enlarge the area. To make the space smaller, reverse this concept and use bright colors and coarse textures in the back and softer colors and finer textures at the front.

To look natural, the rocks should be partially buried. Water does not come from the highest point of nature. So, to look more natural, the characteristics of water should have their source below the level of other features of the landscape. Figure 19-2. The scale is an important element to consider. The cannas are big enough to be a bottom plant in this bed. If the lantanas (seen in the foreground) were moved backwards, they would be visually lost in the design. Figure 19 - 3. The symmetry is seen here with fencing posts, hedges and shrubs. The symmetry in a garden is a more formal style.

You assume that this plant suffers from disease because there were signs of disease and although you saw insects, none of them were on the plant itself. Because there are symptoms on the leaves, stems and roots, you suspect that it is mainly a cow problem. It does not affect other plants in the landscape. Although you can send a sample to the National Clinic for Plant Diseases and Insects NC for a diagnosis of the disease, based on the facts collected, the bad cultural practices are probably involved. The location of the tree is a major concern. C. canadensis prefers well-drained soil and full partial sunlight, not in the shade.
