A landscaping installation can be very simple or extremely complicated. Owners should evaluate the skills and equipment required for the installation and associated costs to determine if they are DIY projects or if the money and times would be better spent by hiring a professional. Permanent structures or large hardscape elements, including irrigation systems, outdoor lighting, stone walls, terraces, pools and patios, may be required skills that go beyond those of the average homeowner. When the job seems too big, call a professional landscaper and licensed. The state law of North Carolina requires that anyone using the title "landscaping contractor" be registered with the Landscape Registration Registration Board.

A land plan of the property, as shown in Figure 19-27, is an excellent starting point. Sometimes a parcel plan is provided when the property is purchased. If this is not the case, consult the local county assessor's office or the GIS County Tax and Deed website. The parcel plan must include the property lines, indicate the location of the house on the property and indicate the alleys, easements and any other limitations. Be sure to check for any setbacks or flows on the property that may have their own set of legal settings. The location of exact property boundaries is important when a fence is part of the final design.
When you sell a house - first home, secondary residence, rental property - you pay the capital gains tax on the difference between the sale price and your adjusted base. The base is the original purchase price, which you adjust for the improvements you have made to the property over the years. If you're installing new plumbing, remodeling the kitchen or paying for some important landscaping work, it's an adjustment.
It's easy to use them to make an impact, especially if you choose varieties that have colorful foliage. Go further with this landscape idea: Execute a creative size. Here, for example, chiseled golden cypresses and columnar holly trees create a delightful contrast with the sheared purple barberry. It's easy to plan all your beds and curbs along the perimeter of your property, but adding an island bed that floats in your lawn is a simple idea.

Once you understand how your property interacts with the elements, you can plan accordingly. I think I want to shout this one on the rooftops. Start small. Start small. Start small. Home improvement shows have huge teams with experts and that's why they can take a 1/4 acre plot and turn it into a paradise in 30 minutes or less. This makes television entertaining, but it is unrealistic. I made this bed when I noticed an unused area next to the bridge. We had the mulch and the border in hand. I had some plants that I moved and bought the herbs. Detail goalBeing small can produce big results. This is one of the most common mistakes that landscaping beginners make. They underestimate or overestimate size and scale. This can happen with plants and landscapes. An oversized bridge swallows a small yard and looks ridiculous.
It is not used if a view does not exist. Geometry is part of everyday life and influences the places where we live. A direct relationship exists between two objects on a plane. Because this relationship exists, a landscaper must pay attention to the architecture before placing new objects or creating new spaces. Regardless of the geometry chosen (rectilinear, curvilinear, radial, or tangent arc, for example), the space and the objects proposed must match the existing architecture (Figure 19-21-d). The first image is a bubble chart used to determine the best locations for the required activities and how much space these activities need, and to study the relationship and circulation between activities.
Often, these items end up on one side of the garage, behind the back porch or under the bridge. Put aside a certain amount of space for these necessities. Try to provide space for an outdoor utilitywhich is easily accessible (Figure 19 - 40). Remember to keep the back of the site accessible to vehicles. Access facilitates major tasks of landscape maintenance (such as tree removal) or the addition of new landscape features, such as a concrete patio or swimming pool. If you wish, spaces for gardening such as a greenhouse, vegetable beds or a compost pile can be provided in this area. As noted above, however, edible products can be integrated into areas of private use.
Embrace the shapes of plants and use them in your landscape ideas. Usually, I enter some tall, upright plants to attract attention and break the monotony that accompanies the use of many shrubs and perennials. I also often take classes with plants that cry: they add excitement, visual energy and a unique gracious form to your yard. When I help people design their gardens, they often ask for a lot of color and look out on the green. But using a variety of shades of green is a wonderful idea of landscaping and a way to add depth to your plantings.
