The asymmetric scale describes a balance obtained by using different objects. For example, if a large box is placed on one side of a scale, it can be counterbalanced by several small boxes placed on the other side. An asymmetrical balance occurs in landscaping when a large existing tree or shrub needs to be balancedt by a group or group of smaller plants (Figure 19-4). Equilibrium can also be achieved using color or texture. The unit is reached when different parts of the design are grouped or organized to appear as a single unit. The repetitions of geometric forms, accompanied by strong and observable lines (figure 19-5), contribute to unity.
Start by creating a lightly elevated grass island in the center of the road. Then add a low hedge of boxwood to the back of the island with roses, annuals and perennials rising above the hedge at the front. Mix a variety of colors, textures and heights for a stunning look. Try pink 'Crystal Fairy' for height, lamb ears for texture and pentas 'Butterfly Deep Rose' for color. When we talk about a resilient plant, that's what we think about. A key part of rain garden design is to choose the right plants for the soil conditions. Typically, native plants with deep fibrous roots work well. For this to work, you need a zone to unload water that is lower than the input. Exhaust pipe must be at least 1/8 "per foot. If you had a discharge exit 100 ft from the entrance, it should be about 1 ft down. To create the drain, you will need to dig a trench gradually tilted from the source to the outlet.
